Synopsis:
After the great struggle
between light and darkness, the worlds returned to its
original state, Kairi returned to the islands but in order to
close the Door to Darkness, Riku and King Mickey has no
choice but to remain in the realm of darkness.
Now in search for Riku and the king, Sora stumbled upon a
humongous fortress called Castle Oblivion. Here he was told that
someone precious to him could be found in the castle. So without
hesitation Sora makes his way up Castle Oblivion, forgetting more
and more with each floor he reaches... But at the same time
remembering what he had forgotten so many years ago.
General Breakdown:
As the game title suggests this game is
about memories. The
basic outline of this story is about Sora who has been told that
he will find someone dear to him at the top of this castle. So
without question Sora makes his way up this fortress to reach the
top floor.
Unlike Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II, Chain of Memories is
equipped with a completely new game play style. You pretty much
run through this game solo, using just Sora alone untill your
reach parts with dialogue. The concept of equipping items and
keychains have been dismissed. Now you are required to build a
card deck which determines what you may do during battle. This is
the substitute for magic, keyblades and items.
The Worlds System is much like the other Kingdom Hearts games,
just with a different front and no Gummyship mini game.
Same soundtrack as that of Kingdom Hearts with a few additional
tracks.
The most impressive thing about this game is how Square Enix has
pushed the boundaries of this game in order to get the most out of
the Gmaeboy Advance. The graphics are absolutely amazing, by far
the best you will find on the Gameboy Advance. There's even a nice
special treat during the credits roll.
Soundtrack:
The composition of this soundtrack is by
Yoko Shimomura, the same woman who did the soundtrack for Kingdom
Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. Pretty much identical soundtrack to
that of Kingdom Hearts so their isn't much to say besides its very
unoriginal.
Summary:
Chain of Memories brought about a great
closure to the Gameboy Advance legacy and shocked the world
because of the potential it had drawn from the hand held. Although
you can tell a lot of thought had been put into the story of this
game, it just didn't seem to have that same spark or glimmer other
games such as Golden Sun had. Extremely amazing graphics, surely a
game to remember. |
